“In every disagreement with your spouse, remember that there is not a winner and a loser. You are united in everything, so you will either win together or lose together. Work together to find a solution where you both win” – Dave Willis
If you’re newly engaged and just beginning with the plans for your big day, chances are you’re feeling a little overwhelmed by all of the options out there. Not only is there a million and one details to consider, but there’s a budget. One doesn’t always allow for the other. And if the struggle to juggle it all wasn’t enough, there are family dramatics to consider as well.
I feel you, love. I was there. I was the bride-to-be with stars in her eyes. Attending various wedding shows, taking in all the vendors and the fabulous products and services they offered. How could I choose just one?!
After a few months, though, I wasn’t so dazzled. I began to focus more on what we wanted for our wedding day and then finding vendors and ways to achieve that.
Through my countless hours online and flipping through magazines, I noticed a growing trend in wedding planning – eco-friendly. At first, when I brought this up to friends and family, many immediately thought cheap, ‘hippy’, bo-ho, etc.
But these things aren’t necessarily eco-friendly, nor are they a bad thing. I have seen weddings done for just a few thousand dollars that were incredible and classy and I’ve also seen weddings that cost the price of a brand new BMW and were so incredibly tacky. It’s all in the execution.
If you’re a bride (or groom) to be and are looking to preserve your green lifestyle; looking for a unique way to plan your wedding; or even just looking to save a little – give it a little consideration.
I’m going to be providing my favourite eco-friendly ways to plan your wedding through a series here on the blog. I’ll be covering everything from invitations, venues, decor, favors, jewelry, attire, food – you name it, I’ll be writing about it. I’ll also be giving you instructions on the DIY items, as well as the direct links to vendors offering various products and services that fit our ‘green theme’
I love, love and I love weddings even more.
Stick with me over the next week or so to see the incredible ways in which you can save money while planning the wedding of your dreams AND staying eco-friendly at the same time!
